Ways to Save Your Marriage
The Magic Of Making
Up
If you're worried that your relationship is on the rocks
and you're headed for a split, please try not to despair. There
are many things that you can do to save your marriage, as long
you both you and your spouse are committed to making things
work, together. Of course, it does take some time and effort to
begin working on your marriage, but when you are both willing,
there is little that can stop you once you have made the
decision that you want your marriage to work.
Step 1 - Be Nice
Even though it may sound simple, one of the easiest ways that
you can work to save your marriage is to simply be nice, and
see what happens.
For example, if your spouse seems to be ignoring your opinions,
then maybe he or she feels as if you are expressing them in a
hostile way, and in turn is trying to express their opposition
to your attitude.
In fact, the apparent indifference may have nothing to do with
what you are actually saying, but rather the way that you are
saying it. When you are nice to others, it is only natural
that they will want to be nicer to you.
One caution comes with this advice, however: Don’t expect your
spouse to think that you are being sincere for at least the
first few days. It may well take a few days to persuade them
that you're truly being genuine. But once they do
realise that your niceness is sincere, they may be more
than willing to work to save your marriage, as well.
Step 2 - Make Time for Yourself
Far too often, a marriage that is the center of your life is
one that grows stagnant and needs an uplifting, refreshing
change. When you make time for yourself, you will come back to
your marriage with stronger commitment and a renewed sense of
togetherness.
When you want to save your marriage, then maybe you can
consider take some time just for yourself, so that you aren’t
always focused on the problems that you may
be experiencing.
And at the same time, don’t expect your spouse’s life to
revolve around you. You should expect, and perhaps even
encourage, your spouse to have some type of outside hobby,
whether it is a book club or golfing. Even though it is
important to spend some time alone together every day, it is
also important to spend some time on yourself.
Step 3 - Make a Date
When you want to save your marriage, then you really need
to spend some time together to work on building your feelings
for each other.
You can make one night a week "date night", so that you can go
out without the kids, and leave all of your troubles at home.
You don’t have to go anywhere that is expensive, but you should
both make an effort to look nice, so that you spouse knows that
you still appreciate him or her.
You should also always make your best effort to keep your
dates. Working to save your marriage requires commitment, and
missing a pre-scheduled date night can send the wrong message
to your spouse. Even if you are going to be late by only a few
minutes, call your spouse and let them know what is
happening.
